Matt T. LeBleu, D.V.M., Managing Veterinarian
Dr. LeBleu earned his B.S. in Animal Science from Louisiana State University in 2005 then went on to pursue his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University (LSU clinicals). He has been employed by Animal Care Center since he graduated in 2009 and began practicing as an Associate Veterinarian in 2010. In 2016, Dr. LeBleu became a minority partner and Managing Veterinarian. His special interests include Internal Medicine, Emergency & Critical Care and Ultrasound.
Dr. LeBleu and his wife married in 2013; they welcomed their first daughter in 2015, followed in 2017 by another daughter and are expecting a son to complete their family later this year. The LeBleu's currently have 3 dogs: “Coco,” a Beagle adopted by Dr. LeBleu in 2009 after she was abandoned by her owner; they also adopted "Jackson," a Lab Mix, in 2012 after a Good Samaritan brought him to Animal Care Center with a broken leg (which Dr. LeBleu fixed) and "Allie," a Shih Tzu, who is definitely a "Momma's Girl." In his time away from the hospital, Dr. LeBleu enjoys golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling.
Scott D. McLelland, D.V.M., Associate Veterinarian
Dr. McLelland graduated from Auburn University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. He has been with Animal Care Center as a practicing Veterinarian since 1983. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association and Florida Veterinary Medical Association. His special medical interests include Soft Tissue and Orthopedic Surgery and Pet Health Education. Dr. McLelland regularly promotes Pet Health Care through local television Public Service Announcements - you may see him occasionally on Beach TV and other local news broadcasts.
Dr. McLelland is active within the community - a Paul Harris Fellow and member of Rotary International and Woodlawn Methodist Church. He and his wife of over 30 years, have two sons and two dogs, “Bentley” and "Lucy," both Golden Retriever mixes. With his time away from the hospital, he enjoys fishing, golfing, and playing the guitar.
Richard E. Smitherman, V.M.D., Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Smitherman earned a B.S. in Zoology from Duke University in 1974 and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from University of Pennsylvania in 1978 before entering active duty in the United States Air Force. During his military service he earned a Master of Preventative Veterinary Medicine degree from University of California - Davis in 1983. He is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, and the American Association of Feline Practitioners and is a Diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Preventative Medicine. Dr. Smitherman has a special interest in Feline Medicine.
Dr. Smitherman has been happily married since 1973. He and his family moved to the Panama City area in 1993, where he retired a Colonel from his Air Force career and has been an Associate Veterinarian at Animal Care Center since 2000. He and his wife share their lives with their son, Adam and their pets, two retired racing Greyhounds, “Gigi” and "Streeter" and a chihuahua, "Zorro," adopted in 2014.
Terra N. McSwain, Associate Veterinarian, D.V.M.
Dr. McSwain earned a B.S. in Biology from East Carolina University in 2011 followed by graduation from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. She completed her clinical year at Oklahoma State University and is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association. Her special interests include internal medicine, anesthesia, nutrition, wildlife rehabilitation and exotic animal medicine.
Dr. McSwain's pets include a terrier mix, "Normann," a Poodle, "Gretta," and a cat, "Walter," all of which are rescues. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, traveling and anything related to the beach.
Stephen Carroll, D.V.M., Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Carroll earned a B.S. in Animal Science and Technology from Louisiana State University in 2008 followed by a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from LSU's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. During his 6 years of practice, Dr. Carroll has worked in Small Animal General Practice and Emergency, Mixed (Large and Small) Practice and has come to us following a few years in the Thoroughbred Equine world.
